Actually, the reinstall was automatic when Windows searched for the driver.

Microsoft Update doesn't find a better or more updated driver.

I installed the same driver that was there before I uninstalled it. I reinstalled the ethernet driver from the RealTec website. That's just what's on the front of the tower. It's an HP Pavillion but I don't remember where to view the rest of the details of what the machine is. But it looses 30Mb speed and that router is only temporary until our Cox Homelife expires and we go only to Nest cameras not a combination of Nest and Cox security cameras. But, If I plug it in to the camera router (a cheap netgear) that is plugged in to the Nighthawk it doesn't seem to drop. This will change in the future for better wifi signal but not yet. Currently router is right by computer due to current cord length. It works when plugged in to the modem though and at high speeds.

The PC gets blank spells in any port.Ĭable was either from router or modem. The light does not go out for either of those regardless of port. The Phillips hub and the router for the cox cameras work in any of the Nighthawk ports.

This happens in whichever port I plug it in to. Will look in to router logs and see if I can figure that out and get it posted.Īmber light on router goes blank when in unplugged mode. I've been working at work this week, but it's not as good as being able to get things done here. Would plug into modem directly and forget the problem if it had more than 1 port, but need wifi. Yes, only changed Duplex to address issue. and got an error page because it was in an unplugged cycle and lost everything. Well, I typed out my answer and hit submit. Only issue would be the computer can't talk to your WiFi devices in this configuration. Plug the Nighthawk into LAN 1 and use it for WiFi. I assume the Surfboard has multiple LAN ports. Temporary workaround (so you can work from home until this gets figured out). If you see fast blinking, that is normal, but if the lights come one for a bit and then go dark for a bit, then we could be looking at a physical fault. Most Ethernet devices has LED lights at the ports. you normally leave it on "Auto Negotiate" and were changing it just to test? The fact that it works at 10Mb screams a cable problem, but it also could be physical fault in the Nighthawk.

So, just to verify, when you tried a new cable, was it the cable from the computer to the Nighthawk? Is that cable the only thing between the computer and the Nighthawk (do you have a wall plug or powerline networking or is the Nighthawk sitting a couple feet away from the computer)? other parts make me think it is the cable. Parts of your description make me think the issue is with the router. Surely there has to be a fix I'm missing?! HELP!! I use this computer for work and have not been able to work from home for the last 2 weeks. I've spent 4 hours on the phone with Netgear tech and over 10 hours on Google trying everything I can find suggested short of installing a new ethernet port/card.

Set Duplex to 10Mb Full - seems to fix it, but speed is tapped out at 10Mb and that's not acceptable solution. Same problem.Ĭhange ISP and DNS (Netgear tech walked me though.) Didn't help. Uninstall and reinstall Realtek PCIe FE Family. Using just Wifi sometimes works but often leaves me "connected no internet." Regardless, speed too slow. Still causes lags and error screens while browsing though. Same problem but does bounce to wifi when the ethernet goes out. That's above my Cox subscription "max" of 50Mbps, so seems my computer can keep up with the speed) (So I don't think it's the cable or my machine. Phone, Alexa, Nest Cams, Cloud Cam, Cox cameras, Philips Huemote Bridge (hub plugged in, bulbs connect via wifi), laptops, etc.Ĭhange port in router.

Note, everything else on the wifi network works fine. Happens regularly at least once a minute, sometimes after only seconds. Cycles right back to working, then goes out for a few seconds. Keeps saying Ethernet cable is unplugged. From the start internet connection is cycling on and off. Just got a new modem (Arris Surfboard SB6190) and a Nighthawk Router R7000P. I seem to remember when I set up the first router there was conflict between wifi and ethernet, but disabling wifi fixed the problem of internet dropping every few seconds. Used a Surfboard modem/router for a few years. My computer is an HP tower about 3 years old.
